Indirect emissions
Emissions associated with the generation of electricity and heat purchased by the installation (Scope 2 in GHG Protocol terms).
For CBAM, iron, steel and aluminium exclude indirect emissions — with the sintered-ore precursor exception for steel. Cement and fertilisers include indirect emissions. The design treats the EU-ETS electricity price pass-through as covering indirect emissions already for most sectors.
