Direct emissions
Greenhouse-gas emissions released on-site at the installation that produces the good — from fuels burned and from process reactions.
Under CBAM, iron, steel and aluminium count direct emissions only. Cement and fertilisers count both direct and indirect. The direct portion includes fuel combustion emissions and process emissions (e.g. decarbonation in cement, PFCs in primary aluminium).
